Beginnings

Whoo!  Here I am creating this blog and I am not sure what I am doing.: )  This blog is about living on our little farm in a corner of the Ozark Mountains of Missouri.  We moved here from a northern city about 10 years ago with two of our six sons and 2 dogs, and a lot of dreams.     Let me introduce my self.  My name is Colleen Ruth and my husband is John Lawrence.  I hail from western South Dakota, (no that is not in the southern part of this country as I have been asked many times.  It is just south of North Dakota which is next to Canada) and my husband is from Chicago.  How did we ever meet???   Fate and the crazy times of the early 70's.    My parents had moved to a small town in the Arkansas Ozarks to get away from the cold.  My future husband and I were on a collision course when I came down from college and he hitchhiked west from his college in Boston.  The rest is sweet history.  We both wanted to be out in the country for many years before we managed it, and here we are on Mary's Woods Farm with our youngest son getting married this month.   We do not really "farm", we just have a few animals and raise a garden and pick wild blackberries in July.  It is a lovely life and we are thankful for many blessings.   More later, right now I have to do some sewing on my future daughter-in -laws wedding dress.    Maybe I will figure out how to post pictures in the future.  A pleasant summer's day to you,  Colleen
